Fly/Cruise Expedition Packages to Antarctica

Hurtigruten Antarctica Expeditions

If like us you have always been a fan of those David Attenborough wildlife shows and have often dreamed about taking an Expedition to the great Frozen Continent, then check this out! Your Dreams just got a whole lot easier to make a reality!

Hurtigruten have been offering expeditions to Antarctica for many years. Now with the addition of Two brand new hybrid powered Explorer ships, the MS Roald Amudsen and the MS Fridtjof Nansen, the whole experience just took on a whole new meaning.

When thinking of a trip to Antarctica, the most remote and pristine place on our planet, you really want to make sure the ship you travel on, also has the best environmental credentials.

The Hurtigruten explorer ships tick all the environmental boxes and with their innovative hybrid engines, you can just imagine slipping quietly through the pristine wilderness of this special place.

Ms Roald Amundsen – Hybrid Powered Cruise Ship

Don’t be put off by the word Expedition! This doesn’t mean you will be climbing mountains, or charting paths unknown. Let’s take a look at a day on board, so you can see what to expect on a typical Antarctica day on a Hurtigruten expedition voyage.

05:00-08:00
Rise early for a delicious breakfast, the perfect start to an active day

09:00
Meet up in the tender pit, where the sturdy explorer boats will take you ashore. On land, the Hurtigruten Expedition team guides you and points out places of interest or local wildlife

11:00
An option of kayaking or hiking with an expert guide. There is nothing quite like gliding through the pristine waters on a kayak in the company of seals, birds and penguins

13:30
Time for a tasty lunch with a great choice of dishes. A great time to re-load and catch up, after the morning’s activities

16:30
Time for an outing on the Hurtigruten explorer boats. Maybe you are in for an unforgettable experience, as you get close to a whale and cruise amongst the icebergs with seals and penguins as your audience

18:00
Back on board its time to join a fascinating lecture about the penguins in Antarctica, then participate in a Citizen Science Project; counting penguins to help researchers and scientists sift through the massive amounts of data they collect in the field. All lectures are also re-streamed directly to your cabin.

20:00
Time to enjoy an excellent meal to round off your day and an opportunity to share your experiences with your fellow Hurtigruten Expedition travellers

21:00
Briefing for the next day. Join a recap of the day’s activities and a presentation on the programme for tomorrow. The briefing sessions can vary and will sometimes be held in the morning, afternoon or early evening.

22:00
Take a night cap out on deck to see the amazing gallery of stars above you, relax with a drink in the bar, or head to the sauna or hot tub. It’s your choice, so make the most of your time in this amazing part of the planet.
